The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks will open the year with Montana on February 27, and The Big Sky has released its schedule for the 2016-17 season. We will finally play the University of Arizona on December 7, the first game of the season for both teams since the 2012-13 season, and our first home game against Montana State on January 5.

In Flagstaff, turn right northbound onto Snowbowl Road and follow the sign for the Grand Canyon. Turn left onto Beaver Street and continue east on Forest Avenue until you turn left into the Arizona State University parking lot in Phoenix, Arizona. Go east on the forest road and look for the sign at the intersection of Route 66 and Interstate 10. In Flagford, turn right off Forest Street onto Beaver Avenue, then left onto Interstate 40, then right onto Interstate 20 and turn south on I-40.
Stop at the hut for a few sledge rides (remember to pack your gloves) or stop at the ski lodge on the way back to Flagstaff. You even have sledding technology if you hire a small one that you can lug around with you, but remember to grab the glove.

Snow - hungry skiers from southwest Arizona are looking for this hidden gem because of its easy access to the canyon and the trails that follow. Wings of the Mountain (closed during the season) and Crowley's Pit, which are closed this season, both offer access to the forest for various winter activities. Located on the hill, Buffalo Park offers a vast network of hiking trails, including a trailhead for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The Flagstaff Nordic Center is quaint, but people often come by to ski, on the way to and from the canyon.
